Founded in 1932 at Thavakkara, Kannur, Bharatiya Pattika Jana Samajam (BPJS) is a leading voice against the denial of rights for Scheduled Caste and Tribe communities in Kerala. With a legacy of 92 years, BPJS has united communities, led historic struggles, and championed social justice beyond political affiliations. Our mission is to empower marginalized communities through advocacy, unity, and action, ensuring equality and dignity for all.

അവകാശ പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾ: 1986, 2005 കേരള മാർച്ചുകൾ, പാർലമെന്റ് മാർച്ച്, റെയിൽ തടയൽ സമരം തുടങ്ങിയവയിലൂടെ SC/ST സമുദായങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശങ്ങൾക്കായി BPJS ശക്തമായി പോരാടുന്നു.

വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ ശാക്തീകരണം: ഇ-ഗ്രാന്റ് സംവിധാനത്തിലൂടെ SC/ST വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് ലഭിക്കേണ്ട ഗ്രാന്റ്, സ്കോളർഷിപ്പ്, ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് എന്നിവ ഉറപ്പാക്കാൻ ധർണകളും മാർച്ചുകളും നടത്തി.

സാമൂഹിക ഐക്യം: ജാതി-മത ഭിന്നതകൾക്കെതിരെ SC/ST സമുദായങ്ങളെ ഒന്നിപ്പിക്കാൻ 1972-ലും 1982-ലും നിരവധി സംഘടനകളെ ലയിപ്പിച്ച് ഐക്യം ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തി.

Timeline
1932 – സ്ഥാപനം
കണ്ണൂർ താവക്കര ഗവ. യു പി സ്കൂളിൽ മലബാർ റീജണൽ ഹരിജൻ സമാജം രൂപീകരിച്ചു. സ്ഥാപകർ: സംസ്കൃത പണ്ഡിതൻ ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണൻ, കെ.എം. രാമേട്ടൻ, പി. പൊക്കൻ മാസ്റ്റർ.
1972 – അഖിലകേരള ഹരിജൻ സമാജം
സംഘടനകളെ ഐക്യപ്പെടുത്താൻ നിരവധി സംഘടനകളെ ലയിപ്പിച്ച് സമാന ചിന്താഗതിയോടെ പുതിയ രൂപത്തിലേക്ക് മാറ്റം.
1982 – കേരള ഹരിജൻ സമാജം
മലബാറിലെ അഖിലകേരള ഹരിജൻ സമാജവും എറണാകുളത്തെ കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഹരിജൻ സമാജവുമായുള്ള ലയനം.
1986 & 2005 – കേരള മാർച്ച്
കാസർഗോഡ് മുതൽ തിരുവനന്തപുരം വരെ നടത്തിയ രണ്ട് കേരള മാർച്ചുകൾ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി.
2002 – BPJS രൂപീകരണം
കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ ലയന സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ നിരവധി സംഘടനകളെ BPJS എന്ന പേരിൽ ദേശീയതലത്തിൽ ലയിപ്പിച്ചു.
2025 – സംസ്ഥാന കൺവൻഷൻ
2025 ഏപ്രിൽ 20ന് കണ്ണൂർ ശ്രീ പൊക്കൻ മാസ്റ്റർ നഗറിൽ സംസ്ഥാന കൺവൻഷൻ നടത്തുന്നു – വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ അവകാശങ്ങൾ, സാമൂഹിക നീതി എന്നൊക്കെയുള്ള വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ ശക്തമായ ഇടപെടലുകൾ നടക്കുന്നു.
പൂർവ പിതാക്കൾ
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless champion for social justice, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar dedicated his life to fighting caste oppression and ensuring equality for all citizens. His vision continues to guide movements for dignity and rights.
Mahathma Ayyankali
Ayyankali was a visionary leader who fought for the rights of Dalits in Kerala. He championed education, dignity, and freedom of movement for oppressed communities, challenging caste barriers and sparking lasting social change.
A.K. Gopalan (AKG)
A stalwart of the Indian communist movement, A.K. Gopalan was known for his unwavering commitment to the struggles of the poor and working class. He played a vital role in shaping progressive politics in Kerala and India.
K. Kelappan
Popularly known as the “Kerala Gandhi,” K. Kelappan was a freedom fighter and reformer who worked relentlessly for the upliftment of marginalized communities. His efforts were pivotal in the temple entry movement and Gandhian social reform in Kerala.
O. Koran
O. Koran (1919–1981) was a prominent socialist leader and advocate for Adivasi rights from Kerala’s tribal communities, known for his fight against social injustices and exploitation. He served as a member of the second and third Kerala Legislative Assemblies and was elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly (1952–1956). Additionally, he held the position of Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation in the Achyutamenon Ministry from November 1, 1969, to August 1, 1970. His legacy continues to inspire struggles for Adivasi rights and dignity.
P M Unnikrishnan
PM Unnikrishnan was a Dalit leader from Malabar who founded the Akhila Malabar Harijan Samajam in 1932. A Sanskrit scholar and powerful orator, he dedicated his life to uplifting marginalized communities, facing severe caste violence and poverty. He died in 1952 from injuries sustained during a brutal attack, yet remains largely forgotten in mainstream history.
K M Raman
K.M. Raman, known as “everyone’s Ramettan,” was a pioneering Dalit leader from Kunhimangalam, Kerala, who dedicated his life to fighting caste oppression and uplifting marginalized communities. A participant in the Salt Satyagraha, he faced severe discrimination and violence but remained active in social and political work, holding key leadership roles in several Dalit organizations. He passed away in 1993, leaving behind a legacy of tireless activism and service.
